September 2011: Topaz, Ireland’s largest fuel and convenience retailer, has had another hugely successful night at a leading industry awards ceremony. ‘Ireland’s Forecourt and Convenience Retailer Awards’ recognize the best in Irish retail, and Topaz collected four awards on the night.
The recently opened Topaz Cashel, a state of the art service station located on the M8 Interchange, and which only opened in May was voted Newcomer of the Year. The station is Topaz’s first location on the new motorway network and has proved extremely popular with motorists over the past few months. The site provides for all needs, with Wi-Fi access, hot food buffet, toilets, showers, café, children’s play area and of course everything a car could need, including a Fast Charge Point for electric vehicles. A worthy winner indeed!
Two Mayo stations picked up another three awards between them. The Casey Group claimed the award for Training Initiative of the Year- “Delivering Excellent Customer Care”. Topaz Casey’s Ballina claimed the prestigious Forecourt Convenience Retailer of the Year (with C-store 1750sq ft +), while Topaz Casey’s Castlebar was also victorious, winning the PostPoint Store of the Year award.
Paul Candon, Corporate Services and Marketing Director with Topaz said the company is extremely proud of its network of sites, and thrilled that such hard work and dedication by the staff has been recognized in this manner. “It is particularly rewarding that Topaz Cashel has taken Best Newcomer, as the site is open less than six months. It shows what an impact it has made on the retail landscape in the region. We are also delighted that the sites in Mayo were so successful in these peer-led awards. To be named Forecourt Convenience Retailer of the Year is a tremendous achievement given the level of competition around, and we want to extend our congratulations to Terry McShane (Operations Director), Aiden Hennigan (Manager Castelbar), Chris McVeigh (Manager Ballina) and all the staff involved in The Casey Group.”
Over 21 Topaz sites were shortlisted as finalists on the night. The awards were presented at a gala dinner in the Shelbourne Hotel in early September.
