Topaz Monaghan has Manager of the Year!

Local store recognised for outstanding contribution of manager

Tuesday June 8th 2010: Ian Sexton, manager of Topaz/Centra Monaghan service station, is this year’s proud recipient of the Shelf Life GRAM Forecourt Manager of the Year award. Ian was presented with his award at a gala ceremony held in the Royal Maria Hotel in Dun Laoighaire last week.

Ian has worked as manager at the Topaz/Centra station in Monaghan since opening in September 2009. He has a team of 18 working with him, and they are all delighted for him and his achievement. According to employee Aisling Smyth, “Ian is a great manager, easy to work with and always around to help. And of course, the customers love him too! This award is well deserved.”

Despite the accolades, Ian is still extremely surprised by his win. “There were a lot of great managers in the category, but of course I’m thrilled to be chosen as Forecourt Manager of the Year. It’s a real honour to be recognised like this, and a great incentive to aim for the same again next year!” It’s also a great recognition of the hard work done by my Team and support office whom I consider to be instrumental to my success.

Ian was in good company in his category, as three other nominees were also Topaz managers.  Peter Reilly, manager of Topaz, Ballina, Co. Mayo, Noreen McNeely, from Topaz Cartron Hill in Sligo and Brian Ferris, Topaz Templeville Road, Dublin 6 were all runners – up in the category.

The Shelf Life GRAM Awards have been running since 2006, and aim to acknowledge and reward excellence in retail management throughout the country. The awards recognise the best managers in the industry and are the only awards in the country to highlight managment in these fields.
