Northern Ireland’s motorists will soon notice a big change when they go to fill up their cars at their local service station. Topaz, the largest fuels and retail convenience business operating on the island, has been busy transforming all the Shell service stations in the region as part of its ambitious re-branding programme.
The refitting and re-branding of the Northern Ireland network is part of an almost £50million investment programme and will see fifteen service stations move from Shell to the new and striking Topaz brand. There are over 200 people working for Topaz in Northern Ireland.
In total, the re-branding programme will have transformed over 300 service stations, over 40 home heating oil depots and a logistics fleet of almost 300 vehicles. There are five home heating depots located in Northern Ireland. They are in Belfast, Derry, Ballymena, Tandragree and Cookstown.
Set up just three years ago, the Irish owned and managed company bought the retail and commercial fuels businesses of Shell and Statoil in 2005 and 2006 respectively. It is the largest fuels business on the island.
Richard Stones, Regional Area Manager for Topaz in Northern Ireland, said “We are delighted to bring the re-branding road-show to the region. We have had 4 crews of 20 men working on transforming every site in the county. We aim to be much more than just a fuel retailer and hope to increase our service to customers by offering more choice in the coming months and years.”
Dawn Scarborough, General Manager with Topaz home heating oil, said “We remain committed to delivering Topaz home heating oil and commercial fuel to our customers using local staff in our regional depots throughout Northern Ireland. Much more than just a delivery service, our staff are trusted members of the communities they service. Our fuel quality and delivery quantities are guaranteed and our priority is getting to know our customers and their needs.”
