TOPAZ SCOOPS MAJOR MARKETING AWARD

Friday 15th May 2009. Topaz, the country’s biggest fuel and convenience retailer has won a major marketing award just over a year after the brand was launched.

At the All Ireland Marketing Awards in Dublin, the company came out on top in the Brand Campaign Award category.

The Topaz brand was launched in February 2008 after the company acquired the Irish retail and commercial fuels businesses of Shell and Statoil. The company  spent €50 million on the investment and expansion programme, creating 400 new jobs in the process.

Oisin Masterson, Marketing Manager at Topaz said he was thrilled to accept the award on behalf of everyone at Topaz. “We are extremely proud of this campaign. An incredible amount of work went into the brand launch last February and it is so satisfying to see all that work recognised by this award.”

Masterson said “our starting point or mission statement was a vision of the station of the future. From there the consistent message of superior service by our staff and superior products such as Clean Fuels and Fairtrade coffee was sustained across a range of media. We have presented a vision and now we are delivering on the promises we have made to our customers every day.”

Company Chairman Neil O ‘Leary and CEO Eddie O’Brien also attended the ceremony at the Burlington hotel in Dublin.
