Limerick motorists will soon notice a big change when they go to fill up their cars at their local service station. Topaz, Ireland’s largest retail fuels business, has been busy transforming every Shell and Statoil service station in Limerick as part of its ambitious national re-branding programme.
The refitting and re-branding of the Limerick network is part of a €50million national investment programme and will see thirteen Limerick service stations move from Statoil and Shell to the new and striking Topaz brand. Topaz is an Irish owned company. Between its company owned network and the retail dealer network, over 100 people are employed in Limerick.
In total, the re-branding programme will transform 350 service stations, over 40 home heating oil depots and a logistics fleet of almost 300 vehicles.
Set up just three years ago, the company bought the Irish retail and commercial fuels businesses of Shell and Statoil in 2005 and 2006 respectively. It is the largest fuels business in the country. The re-branding of the Limerick network is the latest step for one of Ireland’s largest privately owned companies. Every year Topaz owned stations in Limerick sell over:
- 283,400 newspapers
- 86,500 sandwiches
- 245,800 cups of coffee
- 930,500 confectionary products
Tony Buckley, Retail Dealer Area Manager for Topaz in Limerick, said “We are delighted to bring the national re-branding road-show to Limerick. We have had 4 crews of 20 men working on transforming every site in the county over the next few weeks. We aim to be much more than just a fuels retailer and hope to increase our service to customers by offering more choice and a variety of hot and cold foods so that we can help them to re-fuel when they pop in to fill up their cars. All Topaz and Statoil Fuel Cards will continue to be accepted at all of our sites during the changeover.”
